What makes Thursday different on YouTube
Thursday is the last day of the week when the audience is still fully in weekday routine — regular viewing habits, predictable notification checking, no scattering toward plans yet. In that respect it behaves like Tuesday and Wednesday.
What makes it distinct is position. A Thursday upload is processed, indexed, and already accumulating early signals by the time the weekend's long living-room sessions start, so it can be recommended into that block from the beginning rather than during it. It is also still recent enough to sit near the top of subscription feeds when people go looking for something to watch on a Friday evening or Saturday.

Frequently asked questions
Is Thursday the best day to publish on YouTube?
For long-form on many channels it is a strong default, because it combines a weekday audience in routine with proximity to weekend viewing. Whether it beats Friday for your channel depends on how much of your audience watches on weekend evenings — check the published windows and your own Studio data.
Why publish before the weekend instead of on it?
So the video is fully processed, indexed, and already gathering signals when the long sessions begin. Publishing into the middle of a viewing block spends part of that block on processing rather than on watch time.
Does Thursday suit longer videos specifically?
Yes, more than early-week days do. Longer videos need viewers with time, and a Thursday publish is positioned to catch the weekend's television and desktop sessions while still fresh.
Should I move my Thursday slot later in the day?
Being live before the evening is the useful rule; the exact window comes from the data above. Late-night Thursday publishes give up the evening you were aiming for.

A benchmark table is an average of other people's audiences. Bolta's Optimal Time reads your own YouTube history and schedules each post into the window that actually works for your account — then keeps adjusting as the audience shifts.
Methodology
YouTube Thursday figures are aggregated from 11,258 posts published through Bolta across 104 accounts, April 2026 to July 2026. Times are expressed in audience-local.
Audience-local starting windows from the prior Bolta recommendation baseline. These are a defensible starting point, not account-specific optimization; use Bolta's Optimal Time once your own audience history is available.
